John B. MacDonald is a conservationist, writer, and entrepreneur. His main interest is the long-term collection and preservation of DNA from plant and animal species facing imminent extinction. MacDonald received his JD from the University of San Diego and is actively involved in the development of sustainably run businesses.


Forestry -- Research

Lee E. Frelich is Director of the University of Minnesota Center for Forest Ecology. He received a Ph.D. in Forest Ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1986. Frelich has authored more than 150 publications with 160 coauthors from 19 countries, including major works for Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press. 

Frelich's research has been featured in the news media many times, including such venues as The New York Times, Newsweek, and National Geographic. Current research interests include impacts of fire and wind disturbances, invasive earthworms, habitat loss, and climate change in forests.

Paul Douglas has spent 33 years in broadcasting, radio, television, web production, print and reporting. He has spent nearly his entire career in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, 11 years at KARE11, another 11 years at WCCO-TV. In addition to 3 years at WBBM-TV in Chicago, Douglas has appeared on ABC Nightline, and the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather

Douglas lectures extensively on climate change and writes a daily weather column for the Star Tribune newspaper. His software was used Steven Spielberg's movies "Jurassic Park" and "Twister", and his reporting and television weathercasting has garnered AP Awards and a local Emmy. He is the author of the book Caring for Creation: The Evangelical's Guide to Climate Change and a Healthy Environment .
